christy funkThe Green and Fabulous: Fiercely Recycled Fashion Show

This has to be one of my favorite events that we have done so far, and not just because I have a background in fashion! It is because 9 gorgeous, spunky and creative women came together and embraced the shows concept from the beginning.

They picked out their outfits with the utmost attention to detail and it shows! The judges (myself, Angie of The Outfit, Claudia of Reform That Space and Marilyn makeup artist to Belly Sprout) knew we were going to have a hard time deciding once we saw the models.

They were ALL winners in our eyes, but we had to choose one: Jennifer Iturburo. Pregnant and running last minute to get her outfit, she found her hat, purse, earrings, suspender jeans, shoes and top for $12.93 at The Goodwill! We were floored! Ultimately the show was to bring awareness on how buying second-hand is the greenest way to do your wardrobe and these women showed how you can do so without sacrificing style.

Models: Tonya Graham (pregnant in purple 60's dress), Christina Van Vooren (Great Gatsby polka-dot silk dress), Monica Mcmillan (1960's green chiffon floor-length dress), Kristin Prior (Hindu goddess in gold lame floor-length dress and embroidered coat), Shannon Daniel (navy jacket, blue blouse and pants), Marlha Sanchez (Earth Goddess in lemon tank and green silk skirt), Haley Hofsetter (cream khakis, lemon silk tank, chocolate vest with fur hood), Nicole Weinriech (burgundy top and jeans) and Jennifer Iturburo (suspender jeans, navy top, red purse and blue hat.

A special thanks to: Frati Gelato for donating their insane gelato, Organic Beauty for donating their new magazine for all of the goody bags, Bunmi Zalob for being the best MC, Mae Photography for capturing the fashionable chaos, and Nicole Mcgowan for styling the womens' hair.

The Green and Fabulous: Fiercely Recycled Fashion Show has only just begun....

That was so cute! I had never heard of Belly Sprouts but my friend Shannon Daniel emailed us this link. The camera person was awesome. It was hard to tell who won. Everyone looked so cute and I loved how some of the ladies looked so fierce in thier facial expressions and body language....like as if they were actually in a Betsy Johnson show! Very creative and cute. Thanks for sharing with us!!

      Sincerely,
      Julie Eubanks

Send me your information and I can see if the mamas are willing to travel! We are planning on another show in April. We will have Moms and their kids! I cannot wait for that one!
