As we get ready for the Holidays and prepare for the New Year it's a wonderful time to start to
contemplate our choices for natural and healthy living. Now more than ever our dollars are being spent with great care and consideration as people are seeking alternatives to the mass consumption our nation is known for.
The same $20 that was spent buying disposable trinkets are being re-routed to thoughtful, useful and unique gifts. More and more families are wanting to go green and don't know where to start. So, apart from the gift-giving of the season, I have put together a list of
how to apply greener choices in your lives for the Holidays and beyond. Enjoy and share. It really is easier than you think!
1. Eat fresh, organic and non-processed foods for optimal health.
2. Make your own baby food. It is fresh and pure and does not require the preservatives that the jars do, even the organic brands. The Super Baby Food book is a great resource.
3. Boost your immune system by reducing or avoiding sugar. This includes "natural" alternatives like maple syrup, agave, brown sugar, sucanat, honey, etc. Sugar lowers your immune system for 7 hours, allowing your body to be prone to illness. Try stevia instead!
4. Switch to non-toxic, portable feeding supplies like Klean Kanteens, Wrap-n-Mats and Laptop Lunches. There are still BPA's and lead in commercial products so choose wisely. With re-usable bottles you are saving money, our environment and your health! Dad can save up to $2,250 a year by bringing his own lunch to work!
